Open Academic Doors With Softball

May 1, 2018

Use Softball as Leverage to Secure Admission at a Top-Academic School

At each Headfirst Honor Roll Camp, we host an incredibly talented group of student-athletes – each with their own unique talents. Some may have great speed on the base paths, some may have plus pop at the plate, while others may have a terrific curveball or change-up.

These remarkable student-athletes also have varied strengths and weaknesses in the classroom. Some boast near-perfect GPAs, but underwhelming test scores. Others have excelled on the SAT or ACT, but hold lower GPAs.
No matter the makeup of their unique skillset, student-athletes who attend a Headfirst Honor Roll event can obtain a unique advantage when it comes time to apply to college. By engaging directly with coaches at camp, these student-athletes can utilize their softball ability as leverage to gain admission to some of the nation’s most competitive schools.

Recruiters from softball programs like Princeton, Duke, U. Chicago, Amherst, Harvard, NYU & MIT need to target athletes who excel in the classroom as well as on the field, but they can provide admissions support to student-athletes who meet pre-determined thresholds. Each school has its own formula for qualifying a potential-student athlete as academically “recruitable” and – in virtually all cases – softball can be an important piece of the puzzle. When a coach supports a student-athlete it can counterbalance weaker areas of the application.

Each year, we see Honor Roll alumni gain admission to top Liberal Arts colleges with a wide range of GPAs and watch others commit to Ivy League schools with SATs in the 1200s.

Enroll now for your chance to engage directly with 85+ coaches who can impact your future – on and off the field.
