Camp will begin on the morning of Day 1. Student-athletes and families will receive specific instructions for arrival time on Day 1 in advance of camp. Check-in generally takes place between 7:00am-8:00am with programming starting shortly thereafter.
While event schedules can vary, Day 1 typically includes our offensive and defensive showcases (including speed assessment), an optional college recruiting seminar for parents, and no less than 2 games for student-athletes.
Day 2 is comprised of additional simulated games. Once again, each student-athlete will participate in at least 2 of the 4 scheduled games. Our final round of games will end by approximately 4:30pm on Day 2.
Traveling From The West
For those flying, Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) is the most convenient airport (about 20 minutes from Baseball Heaven) but both LaGuardia and JFK Airports (approximately 50 miles) are also possibilities. Baseball Heaven is located near Yaphank, NY on Long Island, in between I-495 and Route 27. For those flying home after Camp, it is best to get a flight at 6:30pm (ISP)/8:00 pm (LGA/JFK) or later if possible. Headfirst will not be able to provide rides to and from the airport.
Attending campers/families are not required to stay at a particular hotel, but Headfirst has arranged for discounted room blocks as follows:
Fairfield Inn & Suites
Residence Inn by Marriott — Holtsville
All campers will be responsible for their own lodging while at the Honor Roll Camp. Headfirst will not be able to provide rides to and from the airport.
Ballplayers are welcome to travel to the Honor Roll Camp without an accompanying family member (though most do arrive with family) but will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the airport and ballpark.
Comparing Headfirst Honor Roll Camp to other events aimed at helping high school ballplayers pursue college athletics is like comparing life in the Major Leagues to a season spent in A-ball. There is Headfirst. And then there is everything else. Mike Barnicle, Journalist & Father of Headfirst Honor Roll Camperview more testimonials
