“Rolling” player check-in will take place from 12:00-4:00pm on Sunday afternoon. During that window, student-athletes and families can arrive at the facility to pick up their jerseys and check-in at any time. Event programming will begin at 4:30pm, so we ask that regardless of when athletes check in, all student-athletes arrive back at the facility between 4:00-4:30pm. To maximize the opportunity and exposure, camp will run until midnight on Sunday, and the schedule on Sunday will focus on showcasing opportunities for student-athletes. Players who will be arriving after 4:00pm on Sunday should communicate this with our team by calling (202) 715-6654 or emailing us at email@example.com.
Given the late end time for Sunday’s programming, we will have campers and coaches arrive to the facility in the late morning on Monday. Monday’s schedule will be focused around game play, and exact report times will depend on each player’s team assignment.
Tuesday’s schedule is comprised of simulated games, with each player playing in two games. We expect that the last pitch of camp will be thrown by 5pm. Exact report and end times will depend on each player’s team assignment.
Traveling From The West
For those flying, Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) is the most convenient airport (about 20 minutes from Baseball Heaven) but both LaGuardia and JFK Airports (approximately 50 miles) are also possibilities. Baseball Heaven is located near Yaphank, NY on Long Island, in between I-495 and Route 27. For those flying home after Camp, it is best to get a flight at 6:30pm (ISP)/8:00 pm (LGA/JFK) or later if possible. Headfirst will not be able to provide rides to and from the airport.
Attending campers/families are not required to stay at a particular hotel, but Headfirst has arranged for discounted room blocks as follows:
Fairfield Inn & Suites
Residence Inn by Marriott — Holtsville
All campers will be responsible for their own lodging while at the Honor Roll Camp. Headfirst will not be able to provide rides to and from the airport.
Ballplayers are welcome to travel to the Honor Roll Camp without an accompanying family member (though most do arrive with family) but will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the airport and ballpark.
Comparing Headfirst Honor Roll Camp to other events aimed at helping high school ballplayers pursue college athletics is like comparing life in the Major Leagues to a season spent in A-ball. There is Headfirst. And then there is everything else. Mike Barnicle, Journalist & Father of Headfirst Honor Roll Camperview more testimonials
